Good week!!! We have those cold medicines too... and I swear by the Hylands! (They also have an "adult version" that I LOVE for me.)

The Great Outdoors

Camden is on spring break this week and Brian was out of school yesterday so we decided to go on a little outing. Actually, I think this was my idea which is pretty surprising since it involved outdoors and a bit of hiking - two things I typically try to avoid at all costs. It's a 1.3 mile hike to the picnic table and eagle look out which doesn't seem like a long walk unless you've got a 3 year old with you who is begging for a stroller. It was also 87 (which tied the record for warmest day ever on April 5) and the first day of real humidity and the walk was in full sun so it was a bit more unpleasant than we had hoped for, but Camden and Brian had a blast. Rory and I, who apparently wilt in the sun, were just a tad miserable at times. Here's the trip in pictures. Notice Camden's protective hand in front of Rory? Tuesday's Tidbits

So Dr. Terry advised me to cut out bread, potatoes, and pasta as a way to lose a few pounds. Do donuts count? Because despite never really having been a strong donut fan before, I have developed a very strong taste for Dunkin Donuts. The powdered sugar ones filled with some sort of chocolate cream/icing. I'm sure they're very healthy. Last week was a very good reality TV week. Not only did Donald Driver win DWTS, but Phillip Phillips won AI. And then Duets started, which stars my favorite AI of all time: Kelly Clarkson. Had this black bean, corn, and avocado salad for supper last week, and it was so good. It's my goal to have salad for supper 2-3 times a week this summer. I also made this banana bread recipe which uses applesauce instead of oil and honey instead of sugar. I have to say that while Brian liked it, the texture just did not do it for me. Won't be making that again. Which is probably good since I'm not supposed to have bread. Sigh. Camd...

Tuesday Tidbits

I'm sure you've all seen this by now, but just in case: Pentatonix's Little Drummer Boy. And for something a little less, well, pleasant, watch this version of O Holy Night. I made it through not only Black Friday but Cyber Monday for under $15. Not gonna lie: it was hard.  We're planning to watch the live airing of Sound of Music this week. Anyone else? And by "live" I mean we'll DVR it and watch it later. I have managed to not take one single photo for a family Christmas card. At this point, I'm not sure I'll even do cards. It makes me feel a little like the Grinch. It's possible I've been using leftover heavy cream in place of half-n-half in my morning coffee. Yum! Anyone else watch The X Factor? It's my go-to at night when I'm trying to fall asleep (although I guess that's not exactly a rousing endorsement). Anyway, my favorite act is Alex and Sierra . Could they be any cuter?
