Crazy 8's

Image
My random pieces from the week: Camden declared his favorite colors to be white, gold, and silver. Before bedtime Sunday night, this was Rory's prayer. "Dear Jesus, Help William and Xavier not go stinky in their pants. Thank you for the sunshine. Help a mosquito not bite me. Amen." After I told Camden and Rory that we could stop praying for Uncle Micah because he got into med school, they both ran around the house jumping and screaming "thank you, Jeeessssuuuusss." It was hilarious (and possibly a bit sacrilegious). Brian mentioned to me at supper last night that the school district is still looking for 2 summer school teachers. Camden looked at him and said, "So. Are you gonna make some money for us this summer or what?" Rory was running around the yard in Camden's hat, and she told me her name was Adam. I said "who's Adam?" And she replied, "no, no, my Danny Gokey." Yes, my 2 year old knows the American Idol contestants. I

Thursday

It's been a challenging parenting week. The kids are at odds with each other; Camden has decided he's Rory's third parent; Rory's a drama queen so you can just imagine how she reacts to having a third parent; Camden is having some major self control issues; the list could go on and on. Which is why I'm kinda thrilled to be dropping them off at Gram and Gramp's house this morning so I can go to the doctor all on my own! (How sad is it that I'm looking forward to a doctor's visit just to get a few free hours?) Camden's kindergarten testing went fine yesterday. He was quite concerned because he has trouble writing his 2's, and he was just sure the test would require alot of 2's. Fortunately for him, he just had to fill in little circles under the pictures. He called it easy, then boring, then said it was pretty hard. Who knows! Gina Miller: Hop, Skip, Jump

Wednesday

Image
Brian had 4th grade graduation last night so I was alone with the kids all day and night. I resorted to "movie night" and pulled out Kung Fu Panda and made popcorn. I also managed to lock myself out of the house for the second time in about 2 months. Thank goodness Brian had made extra keys after I did this the first time, and I had a spare hidden outside. This morning I'm dropping Camden off at school for 3 hours of kindergarten testing (does this seem like alot?). Rory and I are going to hit the grocery stores while he's at school. Unfortunately, Rory has been up since 6:00 this morning, and I'm thinking that her mood will not be all that great after an early morning and a several hours worth of errands. Videos

Brian took the kids to Gram and Gramps house for a little bit of fishing yesterday, and he took several videos of Rory. Rory and the mud puddle Rory handling a fish (I won't even tell you how grossed out I am by the fact that by sweet 2 year old is man handling a fish). Rory cheering bossing Camden around while he plays baseball.

Happy Memorial Day

Image
Let's see, our weekend in review. Friday night Camden's baseball team lost their game via the mercy rule. They started out so well, but ended up losing big. We even had tears this time. Camden was the first up to bat of the game and he had a good hit; the first base coach mistakenly told him to run to 2nd even though the 1st baseman already had possession of the ball and he just tagged Camden out. Poor Camden just sobbed. I'll admit to a few tears after I went over to the dugout and saw how upset he was. Thank goodness I had my sunglasses on so he didn't see what a slobbering mess his mother is. Saturday morning I had an eye doctor's appointment. Apparently, it's not a good idea to wait 3 years in between appointments, not to mention wearing the same pair of disposable contacts for over a year. Who knew? So instead of getting contacts and glasses, I've got some temporary contacts while my corneas recover for 6 weeks or so. I have to see the doctor every 2 we

Poison Control

Image
Well, my evening included Esther study at church, some peanut butter pie, and my first ever call to poison control (completely unrelated to the pie, by the way). Six phone calls and one hour later it was determined that Rory was completely fine. Nothing like a little excitement to end your day. Today's agenda includes cleaning the house (again) and Camden's baseball game tonight. Did I mention that he got demoted from 1st base? I'm not completely surprised that he didn't get his position back after we missed four games while in Illinois, but the coach didn't arrive to the game until late on Tuesday and didn't have time to explain so his feelings were hurt. We built up how important 2nd base is (totally lying because it's completely boring on 2nd base) and he was just fine. A few things about the kids this week: Rory is into everything all of a sudden. In the last two days I've caught her with my coffee cup (full of coffee), she poured my water bottle dow

Bad Teeth

Image
So Camden's first dentist appointment did not go quite as planned! He was SO well behaved and did a great job, but at age FIVE he has two rotting teeth that need to be crowned. And this is from a child who doesn't drink juice, brushes twice a day, and has a minimum of sugar (especially compared to most children I know). In fact, the first thing they asked after seeing his teeth was how much juice does he drink, but we've never been juice drinkers (except at Grandma's house). The next step is to see the pediatric dentist and see how much this is going to cost us! Poor Rory had a horrible afternoon/evening after missing her nap and I ended up putting her to bed at 6:15. We try pretty hard not to miss naptime around here, but she's usually not quite this bad! Unfortunately, she woke up by 6:15 this morning and her mood doesn't seem to be much improved. Wednesday

Image
Whew! I had a busy day yesterday: lots and lots of cleaning and unpacking; spent an hour on the phone with my sister-in-law; paid bills; stalked Kellie's blog for a sneak peak of our photo session; uploaded all the pics from our trip to the blog; grocery shopped; took Brian's car to the mechanic; and watched Camden hit a triple and win a ballgame. Anyone else tired? Today promises to be just as busy. I somehow managed to schedule Camden's first dentist appointment right in the middle of naptime so the errands we have to run before hand might not be alot of fun for a sleepy girl! By the way, our sneak peak is up on Kellie's blog if you want to take a peek! One quick funny Camden story. We were working around the house and he was protesting a little when I asked him to help me put away his clothes from the suitcase. I told him that while vacation was lots of fun, we were back home now and everyone helps out in our house. He asked me what vacation was and I told him it was
