Tuesday's Tidbits

"Mama, if you promise to take me to Chick-Fil-A for lunch, I promise to let you lay me down for a nap." Yes, this would be from Rory. And, yes, she had to take a nap despite no lunch at Chick-Fil-a.

"I just waved myself" after stepping off the bathroom scale.

"Mama, I just wuv spending time with you." Right back at ya, kiddo.

"So, is this one of those times that if we just tell the truth we won't be in as much trouble?" from Camden after we discovered both kids underneath Camden's bed eating smuggled candy.

I am totally and completely addicted to a new Korean drama (Gloria for all my fellow drama addicts). I rufuse to publicly admit how many episodes I watched during Christmas break.

I'm getting back on the treadmill this morning for the first time since FALL BREAK. 

To all my friends with boys in the 6-7 range who sympathized with me about Camden's toothpaste issues? Try travel sized white toothpaste. It's working for us. ;)

Camden was very happy to get back to school yesterday. Not so happy to realize that getting back into a routine included homework, showering (instead of a leisurely bath with toys) and an early bedtime.

We were in a cute little store yesterday when Rory spotted a pink Christmas tree. She liked it so much, I thought we were going to have to bring it home with us. Maybe I could find one on clearance somewhere!

oh, the toothpaste idea is brilliant!! at least if he empties the whole thing, it's still not much!

laughing at the 'waved myself', it reminded me of another to put on my post today..briar saying she wants to "scale herself" (weigh herself) comes out a little wrong...

Blogging feels awkward these days. Not blogging feels a bit like abandoning an old friend. In this season of life it doesn't feel necessary to jot down every cute quip (and that's only partially because they don't say nearly as many cute things). The kiddos (even that is strange - can I still call a 12 and 9 year old kiddos?) are more likely to say "don't put that on your blog!" Rory still likes the attention, but Camden is feeling the need for privacy. But they also still love to read my words. Not a week goes by that they don't pull out blog books from previous years and pore over the pictures and words. Rory giggles and retells the stories; Camden quietly takes in the tougher subjects. Cousins, part 3 (the adult version)

So I'm notoriously bad about including adults in the picture when we're all together, and this trip was no exception. Here are the very few that include adults. Becky is always my test subject before the cousin photo shoots. At the baseball game (which was incredibly hot/humid and started nearly an hour late). Kids were pretty wiped out after their naps following the return from camp. (the adult who spent a week at camp might have been tired too) Camden had the camera and took these pictures of me and Becky, Liz, and mom. Lewis/Hale/Derby/Lemons family - you're all caught up!

7/52: Pastel

This week's theme was pastel and there's not a whole lot of pastel in our house, much less with my black-eyed, black-haired Korean gal. However, she gave me about 10 minutes of cooperation in 10 degree weather and we attempted a pastel snow picture. The first one is my official pastel picture, but I included the other attempts because it was pretty darn fun. This is a new face I'm seeing often these days. By the way, she has 3 shirts underneath this dress, a pair of pajama pants and a pair of hot pink sweat pants. LOL
