Christmas Parade

Saturday we attended our 4th Pleasant View Christmas Parade. And not only did we attend, we walked in it! Our church had a float - a Happy Birthday Jesus cake - and the kids were all presents. I'm not sure why I thought that the parade would present lots of photo opportunities because between passing out candy, holding Rory's hand, giving Rory candy to pass out, trying not to get run over, trying to keep up with the float, trying not to run over the children who randomly stop in the middle of the road to hand out candy, and occasionally carrying Rory because she was convinced she was going to get run over since we were walking in the road, I didn't exactly have a spare hand for the camera. I did manage to snap a few literally by just holding the camera up and clicking, and Brian snapped a few at the end of the parade. It was lots of fun even if we did run out of candy about half way through. Somehow a wave and "Merry Christmas" just aren't worth much without candy when you're walking in a parade.

Yes, they look very awkward in their boxes. Brian had a serious design flaw. :) Rory lasted less than 5 minutes in hers, although she left a trail of oohs and aahs behind her over the Briar Claire hat.

The actual float. Pretty good for our first float ever.

I'm not sure if we were slow or the group ahead of us was fast, but we were this far behind them!

Another church group was there to welcome everyone at the end with hot chocolate. Camden and his buddy Dawson.

There was a marching band behind us, and we know how Rory hates noise.

After being cooped up in the house for much of the last 2 weeks, Rory and I have MANY errands to run this morning. Wish us luck!

Super fun! But I have to agree that the costumes look a wee bit uncomfortable. Although I was realizing that if *your* kids happened to trip, they'd be able to catch themselves, whereas the kids with armholes on the sides of their boxes fell, they would land smack on their faces!
They make the cutest little presents! I love this parade idea... how fun!
