Visiting the Grandparents

After 10 hours of travel for us, (and 11 hours for Becky and the boys) we arrived safe and sound Monday night in Illinois. It really wasn't too bad. I mean, not that I wasn't ready to just be out of the car, but the kids were really good and it was wonderful to meet Becky half way and ride the rest of the way together.

Camden and Rory decided to give up sleep this trip and were awake until well after 11:00 Monday night and then were up before 6:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. We went to the zoo Tuesday morning, and the kids had a blast. The weather was so nice and the zoo is small enough that you can cover it in about 1.5 hours. We then went to a nearby park for a picnic, then spent the afternoon playing outside and riding horses. Becky and I managed to slip away for Whitey's Ice Cream and made it back just in time to split up and watch American Idol and The Biggest Loser. Quality family time.

Wednesday morning we took the kids to the John Deere Museum and the boys loved it! Currently, Becky and I are relaxing at a local Panera Bread with our lunch, coffee, computers (including EHD's) and are kid-free.

Here are a few zoo pics:

You can't really tell from this picture, but Camden had a death grip on
William and Xavier at the zoo. He took it upon himself to be their personal babysitter. It was so funny!

Glad you made there safely. I will be making a trip to IL in a few weeks by myself so I may need some pointers on making it a good trip. Hope you have a great time with your family.
