Terrible Two's

The Terrible Two's have hit, about a month early at our house. In the last week, Rory has decided that she absolutely must climb on anything she can find: crib, chairs, beds, etc. She's also decided that the words, "don't touch," "no," "stop," and "quit" mean absolutely nothing to her (although she uses them quite frequently in her own vocabulary). According to her, hitting and pinching are the right ways to handle an older brother (and sometimes a mommy and daddy). Her hairbows now belong in the trashcan (along with anything else she decides to dump). And the computer is her new play toy. I think my house is pretty kid-friendly, but we can no longer leave her alone anywhere because if there is something that shouldn't be played with by a kid, she finds it. Her idea of "give it back" is to lob it across the room. We might be in for a rough year! She and Brian have had several battle of the wills. She stands in front of him crying and just shaking her head no, until he wins out. She hasn't tried that with me - maybe because she already knows it would do no good. She is certainly more precocious than Camden ever was at this age.

Our shopping trip was successful yesterday, and we had a nice time. We were there when the mall opened so that it wouldn't be too crowded, and it was perfect. By the time lunch was over, there were so many people! It reminded me why we don't go to Opry Mills that often! Camden thoroughly enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe, but Rory was terrified each time the monkeys and elephants came out to play, and seriously screamed during each "thunderstorm." She is recently scared at loud noises. I can remember Camden going through a stage like this right at age 2.

Pictures of Emma are up, but please pray for their family. She is very sick, and they're having a rough initial adjustment. I can't wait to show her pictures to Camden and Rory when they wake up.

Oh, my! Rory sounds as melodramatic as my youngest one. The sad news is it doesn't get better as they get older...the twos are JUST THE BEGINING!!!... brace yourself for a really long haul!
