Wednesday

You should just see how excited Camden is every night when he gets home from Bible School. He is loaded down with papers and crafts (and wired from the koolaid) and he tells me the Bible stories, which get a little mixed up in the translation, but it is so cute!

I walked with Mayme again last night - this time we went to her house. I have two words for you: big hills. I'm sore this morning!

When we first found out that Becky had breast cancer I don't think that any of us realized how it was going to affect all of us, but the doctors quickly discovered that the particular kind of cancer she has is generally caused by the breast cancer gene. After doing some family research, we discovered that a great aunt and second cousin had breast and ovarian cancer and had tested positive for the cancer gene. Because this was all on my dad's side, he was tested for the gene and yesterday we found out he tested positive. Now this doesn't mean too much for him, but what it means for me and my other sister Elizabeth is that we must be tested. There is a 50/50 chance it was passed to us. If we have the gene, then we have a very significant chance of developing cancer before the age of menopause. This is the kind of gene where you hear stories of women having preventative mastectomies and their ovaries removed. Now, I'm not sure I'm ready to go that far, but I do have an appointment with a breast specialist on August 8 who will take care of my genetic testing and may become my close personal friend in months to come. The good news is that a week after Becky's new chemo, she continues to do well. She had a couple of bad days with side effects, but in general it has been alot better than her other treatments.

I finished up HP last night, and it is so good!! Let me just warn you that once you reach a certain point in the book, there is no turning back - you will be UNABLE to put it down! So, I'm a little tired this morning since I stayed up late finishing it!

I finished up one page last night - Camden went fishing in May and had a blast. Unfortunately, he didn't catch fish, but Brian snapped this picture.

So sorry to read about the cancer gene. We will pray for you as you prepare to be tested. I am about ready to go finish Harry Potter...I am nervous!

It's great to meet you! What a cutie you have! And congrats on being in process for #2! I will be praying that your testing coes up negative and that you won't have to worry about the possibilities of preventative measures. Keep us posted.
