Tuesday Tidbits

I bought Maybelline Mega Plush mascara on a whim last week, and I've got to say I'm impressed. Not only does it make my lashes look nice and full (something they've been lacking ever since chemo started last May), but the mascara does not fade at all. It managed to make it through all my chemo-induced crying last week, and when I wash my face at night with my Merle Norman cleanser, it doesn't budge. You definitely need eye-makeup remover.

Does anyone remember my steroid-induced retail therapy that used to happen late at night during last year's chemo? Brian will be proud - so far I've resisted all shopping urges. Okay, that's not completely true, but I'm not going to confess.

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Kelle Hampton's blog. I love her pictures, how she embraces the little things of life, her craftiness, her writing style. Basically, everything I am not. ;) She posted this video last week, and it just kind of melts my heart.

For all those people who told me last year that being bald was a great way to save money on haircuts and styling, let me just tell you that I am more than making up for it now. I can't stand being shaggy, which means haircuts every 4 weeks with lots of styling products in between to keep it all in check.

And speaking of hair, my fellow chemo patients were all big fans of my hair (although I have a feeling most of that is due to the fact that none of them actually had hair). One of them said, "your hair is so perfect it's almost like a wig." And while I'm sure she meant it as a compliment, it made me cringe. Big time. Because having helmet-like old lady hair is a big fear of mine now that I've decided to embrace short hair.

Brian has in-service 3 days this week and the kids are off to spend a couple of days at Gram and Gramp's, and I have to say that I am basking in the quiet house this morning. I've got to go to the hospital for bloodwork, but then I'm going to come home and spend the next 48 hours scrapping. Brian and I are also hoping to take advantage of having a babysitter and go see the new Spiderman movie if I'm feeling up to it (and I'm planning on feeling up to it).

I have been reading your blog for several weeks now, and I've been so moved by your honesty, your amazing photos, and your gorgeous children. :) I love your scrap layouts too, they really inspire me to make sure I take the time to do my own while things are fresh, and take as many pictures as I can. I hesitated to mention it, but decided I'd want someone to tell me, that I think you meant June in your swimming layout instead of July? I know you make it a point to date your layouts the same way I do, and since July 28 hasn't happened yet this year I just thought I'd give you a heads up. Lol.

I'm thinking of you as you go through your chemo, and I'm amazed by your strength and courage, as well as your you-ness and transparency about the whole thing too. :)

Blogging feels awkward these days. Not blogging feels a bit like abandoning an old friend. In this season of life it doesn't feel necessary to jot down every cute quip (and that's only partially because they don't say nearly as many cute things). The kiddos (even that is strange - can I still call a 12 and 9 year old kiddos?) are more likely to say "don't put that on your blog!" Cousins, part 3 (the adult version)

So I'm notoriously bad about including adults in the picture when we're all together, and this trip was no exception. Here are the very few that include adults. Becky is always my test subject before the cousin photo shoots. At the baseball game (which was incredibly hot/humid and started nearly an hour late). Kids were pretty wiped out after their naps following the return from camp. 7/52: Pastel

This week's theme was pastel and there's not a whole lot of pastel in our house, much less with my black-eyed, black-haired Korean gal. However, she gave me about 10 minutes of cooperation in 10 degree weather and we attempted a pastel snow picture. The first one is my official pastel picture, but I included the other attempts because it was pretty darn fun. This is a new face I'm seeing often these days. By the way, she has 3 shirts underneath this dress, a pair of pajama pants and a pair of hot pink sweat pants. LOL
