June 24 - The Rock Cafe

One of the things on our Summer List 2012 was to eat at a restaurant featured on Diners, Dive-ins, and Drives. Who knew that we'd also find a restaurant on Route 66 that also helped inspire the character Sally from Pixar's Cars (only Camden's favorite movie ever).

We drove (in the sweltering heat once again) an hour to The Rock Cafe, and the kids were pretty excited about it. The featured item from the TV episode was spaetzle - homemade German noodles grilled with butter and cheese. It was quite tasty. I think the kids were most interested in the fact that the bathrooms were covered in chalk paint and completely covered in writing.

It was a fun trip. Probably wouldn't go out of our way to eat there again, but it was a fun experience for kids and adults!
