Seriously, 5 years?

Somehow, five years have passed since we went from a family of 2 to a family of 3. Let's take a walk down memory lane.

Our first peek at Camden (ignore the bad scrapping - clearly, they're from my early days.) I remember so clearly standing in that airport thinking that after all the hurdles we went through to be parents, someone was actually going to walk through those gates and just hand me my baby? Didn't seem possible.

His escort was so sweet. I'll never forget the tears in his eyes when he kissed Camden's head before leaving. Now that we've traveled to KOrea with Rory, I realize we weren't nearly grateful enough to this man who took care of an 8-month old on a 24 hour trip.

Our first nap together - he was so cheerful, and then just dropped off to sleep.

A few weeks after he arrived - I love those little fat cheeks so much. They didn't last long - he grew up so fast! Despite a few sleep issues in the beginning (which thankfully only last a couple of week), we had such an easy transition with him. Even though I can look back on pictures of him and see the uncertainty in his eyes, he really did settle in well. I will always regret not being able to stay home with him and experience every baby moment. It's what made us so determined to not adopt again until we could make plans for me to quit work.

Year number 1 (clearly, I was not a scrapper yet since I didn't even take a family picture!)

Year number 2 - that cheesy grin cracks me up!

Year number 3 - we had the best day at the park.

Year number 4 - Rory had just arrived home, and he was feeling quite jealous. It was good to have a day just to celebrate him.

Year number 5 - he's just so big these days!
Camden has baseball practice tonight so we're not celebrating until tomorrow (and believe me - he would much rather go to baseball practice than celebrate). We let him choose where he wanted to eat, and he chose Logans because of all those free peanuts. I think he loves throwing the shells on the floor almost more than eating them!

Our weekend was a bit crazy. Rory and I ran lots of errands Saturday morning while Brian and Camden went to a men's breakfast at church and then headed to baseball practice. We always get lots of comments when we're out usually consisting of how cute Rory is. Lots of times people try to talk to her and most of the time she is more than willing to talk back - she is generally quite the little social butterfly. I've been noticing the last week or so that she is not responding nearly as much. Well, this little old man tried talking to her. When she didn't respond to him after several minutes, he looked at her, said "you no speaka da english?" and walked off. One of these days maybe I'll just be able to laugh off those comments, but for now they get on my nerves.

It seems as if my girl is ready to potty train. What was my first clue? The fact that she asked me FOUR times yesterday to go potty and actually went! It's like a lightbulb went off in her head! I guess I need to get something besides diapers in this house.

We finally received Camden's baseball schedule yesterday and it looks as if we'll be eating/sleeping/breathing baseball for the next two months. He has 2 - 3 games a week until the first week of June! We thought they would mostly be on Saturday's, but there are lost of weekday games scheduled.

Rory picked up a little stomach bug somewhere and spent most of last night writhing around in pain. I hate it for her - she was so pitiful. She was up so often that it was 1 a.m. and I hadn't been to bed yet. She did sleep straight through after that and is still in bed so I'm hoping she feel better this morning. It didn't help that she missed her nap yesterday afternoon and was so tired (her mommy and daddy and aunt and uncle might be to blame for that since there was a serious Guitar Hero/Rock Band competition going on).

We have no concrete plans for today other than I'm definitely doing some housework. I think the weather is supposed to be perfect outside so I'm sure we'll spend a good part of our day enjoying it.

I will also never forget that day at the Chicago airport when we saw Camden for the first time. It was one of the most emotional days I can remember! March is a pretty special month!

Happy "Gotcha" Day to Camden! It's hard to believe it has been five years. We couldn't wait to see him. You did so good in getting us pictures and videos.
