Our day

Our day yesterday: I read Camden a batman book yesterday morning. He spent the rest of the day with his batman blanket wrapped around his neck re-enacting the book. Seriously, for hours. Rory spent a good majority of the day either crying/wanting to be held, reading books on my lap, or getting shoes out of Camden's closet. This is her favorite past-time. She LOVES to wear other people's shoes, but especially Camden's because they're not so big that she can't walk in them. In fact, at one point last night before church, I was trying to help the kids get the house picked up so it would be clean before bedtime, and FOUR times I asked her to put away the shoes she was wearing and FOUR times she put them away but brought me back a new pair. It was hilarious. Well, it would have been if I hadn't have been trying to pick up the house.

And here's how I spent my day (well, aside from reading the farm book to Rory dozens of times):

Blogging feels awkward these days. Not blogging feels a bit like abandoning an old friend. In this season of life it doesn't feel necessary to jot down every cute quip (and that's only partially because they don't say nearly as many cute things). The kiddos (even that is strange - can I still call a 12 and 9 year old kiddos?) are more likely to say "don't put that on your blog!" Rory still likes the attention, but Camden is feeling the need for privacy. But they also still love to read my words. Not a week goes by that they don't pull out blog books from previous years and pore over the pictures and words. Rory giggles and retells the stories; Camden quietly takes in the tougher subjects. Cousins, part 3 (the adult version)

So I'm notoriously bad about including adults in the picture when we're all together, and this trip was no exception. Here are the very few that include adults. Becky is always my test subject before the cousin photo shoots. At the baseball game (which was incredibly hot/humid and started nearly an hour late). Kids were pretty wiped out after their naps following the return from camp. (the adult who spent a week at camp might have been tired too) Camden had the camera and took these pictures of me and Becky, Liz, and mom. Lewis/Hale/Derby/Lemons family - you're all caught up!

7/52: Pastel

This week's theme was pastel and there's not a whole lot of pastel in our house, much less with my black-eyed, black-haired Korean gal. However, she gave me about 10 minutes of cooperation in 10 degree weather and we attempted a pastel snow picture. The first one is my official pastel picture, but I included the other attempts because it was pretty darn fun. This is a new face I'm seeing often these days. By the way, she has 3 shirts underneath this dress, a pair of pajama pants and a pair of hot pink sweat pants. LOL
