Eating Our Words

When Camden started this baseball thing, we looked around us and saw so many families whose lives had been completely taken over by sports. Sports had priority over church, family events; sports ran them ragged as they went in multiple directions at once, etc. And we determined to not go that road. We also specifically planned to just do regular season baseball, skip all-stars, etc. Well, we're eating our words because when Camden was invited to be on the all-star team this year (only 11 players out of 46 were chosen so it was an honor), we didn't hesitate too long. We're still committed to not letting sports get in the way of the more important things in life, but for the next 3-4 weeks we'll be participating in the all-star team, or Little League on Crack as I like to affectionately call it. It involves 4-5 practices a week, plus games. It's a big time commitment, but Brian is out of school and has extra time and we have no vacations planned. Not to mention that I didn't think Camden could love baseball more than his first season, but I think he topped it this year.

So far this week we've pulled out the blow-up pool, been to library story time, and today we're going to enjoy the Free Summer Movie program at Great Escape Theaters. Rory has a new gymnastic teacher and schedule for the summer, and her first lesson was last night. It was alot of fun, and the teacher (who is also the owner of the gym) is super-nice and very patient, but he introduced some new skills and expected more out of them in general (which I kinda like). Rory giggled her way through it all and tried to tell him stories about the pool every time her turn came around.

I'm giggling over this post since we say the same exact things you once said yourself! Oh no... What does that mean?!? A future on the bleachers for me?!?
