Tuesday's Tidbits

Camden is big into writing clues these days; last night he and Rory had set up clues for me to read for my birthday. It involved trekking up the stairs no less than 4 times leading to a final note that was a coupon for a "free lunch or free anything."

Now that this house is painted and we've bought the gray furniture I've been dreaming of for the last year, I'm terrified to actually put something on the walls and make decorating decisions. If I put it off for a couple more weeks, I can just put up the Christmas tree and delay any actual decorating until the new year.

I must have been tired Sunday night because not only do I not remember going to bed, but I don't remember journaling (via oh life). The first sentence makes sense. The next 2 lines are complete gibberish.

If you're looking for a new cookie recipe, I can highly  recommend Pioneer Woman's Monster Cookies. My mom made them last weekend, and they. are. delicious.

Now that we've moved, I switched hospitals for my weekly bloodwork. Today was the first day, and you can color me not impressed. After 45 minutes in patient registration (which they said I would need to do every week), the morning was redeemed by the cute little lab tech who told me she'd be taking care of me every Tuesday and to skip registration "because they change policies every 3 days anyway." ;)

I did manage to get some scrapping done yesterday. It was good to spend a quiet morning at home with my birthday messages, hot coffee, and computer.

I so totally agree on the decorating dilemma! I am terrified to do anything because I think it will stay that way for the next 20 years. I hung a few pictures where there were already nails, but nothing else. Something tells me our homes will evolve slowly. LOL!

Is that Camdyn in the photo with Rory? Are they in the same class?

Hope you had good birthday! I was so afraid that you might not have a good experience at the new hospital..I have heard so many negatives.

Camden just looks sooooo tall beside little sister:)

Now you've got me wondering what will happen if you skip registration, or what would happen if you asked the registration attendant where you go to pick up the weekly lab pass.And we look forward to seeing things once you decide to decorate!

That is one beautiful picture of the 3 of you. I, too, have a very hard time deciding on pictures/ decorating. That's why I've never posted "after" pictures of our bathroom redo. I still can't decide what I want to put on the walls! I agree with you, just move on to Christmas and put it off until the New Year!

Our meeting with Dr. W today was fine. Not encouraging, but fine. I don't know why I expected better news, but I think it's hard not to hope that the bad news you hear is somehow wrong; that they've somehow made a mistake. Basically, the cancer is still the same as prior to chemo. Possibly a little larger, but he said it was hard to tell. He was glad that it had not returned to my bowel or colon (because that was a large part of my initial surgery), and my chest and lungs are still clear (apparently, this is the next place the cancer would go). It does not change my stage of cancer (still 3c), and remission is still a possibility, but he said that it would be very tough to get there.  There are several more drugs that we can try, which is good, but unfortunately they each have a success rate of only 25%. It's a little too early to be considering clinical trials because hospitals who hold the trials like for the patients to have tried the more main-stream drugs firs

Late Night Ramblings

1. Thanks to Andrea for driving me to chemo today. I'm always a little anxious on the way in and the very few times I've had to drive myself, it's been a little lonely coming home. But not today. 2. A fellow chemo patient today thought I was in my 20's. Score.  ("score" would be a term I'm borrowing from Becky ) 3. I did not wear a scarf today to chemo, and all the nurses and doctors did a double take since they didn't recognize me. So wierd. I recognize me with hair, bald, and with a little puppy fluff. 4. Dr. W. is adding Avastin , a new drug which will help prevent cancer cells from growing, to my current Gemzar routine. Good news is that it won't make me feel any worse. Bad news is that in a small percentage of patients it causes severe side effects involving blood clots, kidney failure, ulcers, and holes in your bowel. Good times. 5. Scenes from the Soccer Field

So I may not have apologized yesterday about the number of pictures, but I am definitely going to today. Because  coughcough thirty coughcough just might be excessive. And probably my family will be the only ones who look at all of them. But I don't care. :) By the way, we completely lost and did not even score a goal yet again. Rory tried really, really hard. This team was head and shoulders bigger than we are, way more coordinated than 4 year olds should be and their coach kept their A team in the entire game. Even after scoring some 15 goals. Oh, well. Rory still enjoyed herself. Which way is the goal again? Notice her position in this picture. Notice how she passed the girl next to her? No, I am not competitive at all. Not sure where the other team is. Oh, wait. There they are. See how much bigger they are? You'll notice she almost always runs with her mouth open. Either that or her tongue hang
