Becky did really well during her surgery and is doing as well as can be expected. We're very grateful for that!

Come back tomorrow for a regularly scheduled blog post complete with new scrap pages. :)

I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well. I have been praying for Becky and will continue to pray that her recovery is as easy as it can be. (((HUGS)))

The Great Outdoors

Camden is on spring break this week and Brian was out of school yesterday so we decided to go on a little outing. Actually, I think this was my idea which is pretty surprising since it involved outdoors and a bit of hiking - two things I typically try to avoid at all costs. It's a 1.3 mile hike to the picnic table and eagle look out which doesn't seem like a long walk unless you've got a 3 year old with you who is begging for a stroller. It was also 87 (which tied the record for warmest day ever on April 5) and the first day of real humidity and the walk was in full sun so it was a bit more unpleasant than we had hoped for, but Camden and Brian had a blast. Rory and I, who apparently wilt in the sun, were just a tad miserable at times. Here's the trip in pictures. Notice Camden's protective hand in front of Rory? Tuesday Tidbits

I'm sure you've all seen this by now, but just in case: Pentatonix's Little Drummer Boy. And for something a little less, well, pleasant, watch this version of O Holy Night. I made it through not only Black Friday but Cyber Monday for under $15. Not gonna lie: it was hard.  We're planning to watch the live airing of Sound of Music this week. Anyone else? And by "live" I mean we'll DVR it and watch it later. I have managed to not take one single photo for a family Christmas card. At this point, I'm not sure I'll even do cards. It makes me feel a little like the Grinch. It's possible I've been using leftover heavy cream in place of half-n-half in my morning coffee. Yum! Anyone else watch The X Factor? It's my go-to at night when I'm trying to fall asleep (although I guess that's not exactly a rousing endorsement). Anyway, my favorite act is Alex and Sierra . Could they be any cuter? Wednesday update

Dear friends of Melissa, This is Melissa's sister Becky updating her blog.  I wanted so much to be able to bring the best news from today, but unfortunately, we did not get the report from her surgery that we were wanting.  The surgery was much more extensive than they had originally planned and they have given her a diagnosis of stage 3 ovarian cancer.  The surgeons were able to remove the majority of the cancer and encouraged us that our immediate focus is to get her recovered from this surgery and then we will look ahead to treatment plans.  While we are most assuredly disappointed, we know that God is good.  Please continue to pray for her, for Brian and their family.  Right now, we are simply waiting to even see her.  Pray for Brian as he shares the results from the surgery and that somehow they would be able to rest tonight.  I will try to update again tomorrow.
