Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Our weekend was full of three things: sleep, sunshine, and baseball. Okay, I guess that's not totally true because we also had church Sunday morning and then a church event Sunday night, but Friday and Saturday involved sleep, sunshine, and baseball.
It's tournament time for Little League. Camden unfortunately missed one game because of camp (they lost), so it was do or die Friday night. Camden came home from camp and slept for almost 4 hours, got up, ate a sandwich then headed to the ballfield. He still had no voice at this point, and I was worried he'd be super sluggish.
Turns out that it was a great ballgame. We almost won in the last inning as a result of Camden's hit and resulting 2 RBI's, but the Phillies came back to tie it, and we headed into extra innings. About 2 and a half hours into the game, Camden once again had a hit and those RBI's ended the game. The team was so excited and the player who ran up to Camden, grabbed his face, and screamed into it out of excitement was kind of hilarious.
Winning that game meant we played Saturday afternoon, and while they played really well, the other team was just really, really good with fabulous pitchers. We had used up all our pitchers on Friday night's game, and we really didn't stand a chance. They did play well, but the other team was just better. We lost 11-0. Ouch.
A few pictures from Saturday's final game of the season.
Rory ignoring the camera . . .
. . . so I can't catch her doing this.
Making lists instead of watching the game, although in her defense, 3 hours (including warm-ups) is a long time to sit.
Final batting opportunity. He had a good hit to left field, but they threw him out at first.
Game over.
Headed to the dugout for the last time this season.
Go, Pirates.
Headed home.
Our Monday is moving nice and slow, just the way a summer Monday morning should be.
