Prepare yourself for a whole lot of randomness.

I made a seriously delicious broccoli cheese soup last night that went really well with my first loaf of whole wheat homemade bread. Okay, actually it's the second attempt (in one day), but I won't count the first one since it never made it to the oven.

Camden is out of school until November 29. Why didn't we have long Thanksgiving breaks when I was in school?

I am dying to go to Harry Potter tonight. It's been kind of a tradition for the last 9 years and I even re-read the 7th book this week in preparation, but a grown woman with 2 kids doesn't always get to see movies opening weekends. :) Still holding out hope for sometime in the next few weeks.

Rory has declared every day this week "mis-match day" and has been wearing two different shoes. I don't even know how she learned about mis-match day!

No idea what they were playing, but it involved hats and holding a sword to your sister's neck.

Very excited to take the kids shopping for their Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes tonight.

Rory has played SO well this week. She's a happy child in general, but this week she has been so imaginative and played and played. For instance, she sat on the treadmill for over an hour yesterday with her babies and puppy around her reading to them.

SO much to love in this post!!!
But my favorite parts are Rory's mismatched shoes, and the funny little game she and Camden were playing. Why? Because they posed so beautiful mid-decapitation!

Blogging feels awkward these days. Not blogging feels a bit like abandoning an old friend. In this season of life it doesn't feel necessary to jot down every cute quip (and that's only partially because they don't say nearly as many cute things). The kiddos (even that is strange - can I still call a 12 and 9 year old kiddos?) are more likely to say "don't put that on your blog!" Rory still likes the attention, but Camden is feeling the need for privacy. But they also still love to read my words. Not a week goes by that they don't pull out blog books from previous years and pore over the pictures and words. Rory giggles and retells the stories; Camden quietly takes in the tougher subjects. Cousins, part 3 (the adult version)

So I'm notoriously bad about including adults in the picture when we're all together, and this trip was no exception. Here are the very few that include adults. Becky is always my test subject before the cousin photo shoots. At the baseball game (which was incredibly hot/humid and started nearly an hour late). Kids were pretty wiped out after their naps following the return from camp. (the adult who spent a week at camp might have been tired too) Camden had the camera and took these pictures of me and Becky, Liz, and mom. Lewis/Hale/Derby/Lemons family - you're all caught up!

7/52: Pastel

This week's theme was pastel and there's not a whole lot of pastel in our house, much less with my black-eyed, black-haired Korean gal. However, she gave me about 10 minutes of cooperation in 10 degree weather and we attempted a pastel snow picture. The first one is my official pastel picture, but I included the other attempts because it was pretty darn fun. This is a new face I'm seeing often these days. By the way, she has 3 shirts underneath this dress, a pair of pajama pants and a pair of hot pink sweat pants. LOL
