Rain

I'm remembering what life is like in Middle Tennessee during spring. Rain, thunderstorms, tornado watches and warnings. I think that about covers it. We had storms last night and lost power until about 7:30 this morning so I was late to work today. I was sitting at the kitchen table with Camden while he ate breakfast, and he prayed over his food and prayed that the lights would come back on. About 5 minutes later, the power kicked back on, which made the answering machine say it's standard message. Camden perked up with a big smile on his face and said, "Jesus made the lights come back on, mommy. Yep, I heard him." It was so funny!

Right now all the county schools are closing early because of really strong thunderstorms coming through. So far Camden's school hasn't closed. I'm trying to decide if I should be worried or not. Our weather teams tend to way over-exaggerate things and scare us all to death for little to no reason.

Blogging feels awkward these days. Not blogging feels a bit like abandoning an old friend. In this season of life it doesn't feel necessary to jot down every cute quip (and that's only partially because they don't say nearly as many cute things). The kiddos (even that is strange - can I still call a 12 and 9 year old kiddos?) are more likely to say "don't put that on your blog!" Rory still likes the attention, but Camden is feeling the need for privacy. But they also still love to read my words. Not a week goes by that they don't pull out blog books from previous years and pore over the pictures and words. Rory giggles and retells the stories; Camden quietly takes in the tougher subjects. Here's the truth. I have less to share because life is both busy and unexciting at the same time. Cousins, part 3 (the adult version)

So I'm notoriously bad about including adults in the picture when we're all together, and this trip was no exception. Here are the very few that include adults. Becky is always my test subject before the cousin photo shoots. At the baseball game (which was incredibly hot/humid and started nearly an hour late). Kids were pretty wiped out after their naps following the return from camp. 7/52: Pastel

This week's theme was pastel and there's not a whole lot of pastel in our house, much less with my black-eyed, black-haired Korean gal. However, she gave me about 10 minutes of cooperation in 10 degree weather and we attempted a pastel snow picture. The first one is my official pastel picture, but I included the other attempts because it was pretty darn fun. This is a new face I'm seeing often these days. By the way, she has 3 shirts underneath this dress, a pair of pajama pants and a pair of hot pink sweat pants. LOL
