Tuesday's Tidbits

Image
Only two today, but they are doozies from my girl. "Sheesh! I am so blasted hot."  Is this kinda like 5-year-old cussing? "When I stop soccer, I'm going to do Dancing With the Stars next. I better get started on ballet, don't ya think, mama?" And I could almost have my feelings hurt about this. Camden and Rory were so happy to see us when we picked them up from school yesterday, but at soon as we got home, they hurried outside and we didn't see them until supper. ;) I think they were happy to be back in their own yard (and these pictures make me a little sad about those teeny tiny backyards we looked at in Texas). Oops! Not happy to see me with the camera. :)

Friday Photo Dump

As I write this, Brian is taking the first of those two tests I mentioned. I think he's ready for them, and I know he's ready for them to just be over. ;) House shopping yesterday was fun. It was more information-gathering than serious house shopping, but still fun. And we lucked out with a great realtor. While most people dream of living out in the country with acres of land, I've always dreamed of living in a pretty subdivision with a cute brick house. Close to Starbucks and lots of shopping areas, of course. I'm headed out shopping with Collette and her kids, then we're all headed to Dallas tonight. Can you believe this is our third trip to McKinney, but only the first to Dallas (except for the airport, of course). And two pics from the week that didn't get posted. Not my best work, but I couldn't stand to have two posts in a row with no pictures.

Scarves, Little Hair, and More Hair

As anyone who frequently flies knows, you have to show your photo id multiple times. And if you're renting a car, booking a hotel room, etc. you have to pull it out even more often. We flew to McKinney, Texas, back in October. I was still bald and in scarves. My driver's license shows me 4-5 years ago with very long, very thick, very dark hair. And a whole lot younger looking, by the way. As you can imagine back in October, I got alot of pitying looks; some people just avoided eye contact all together.  When I flew to Oklahoma in January, I had hair, but it was still pretty obvious that maybe that short haircut wasn't quite on purpose. I got alot of double takes as the id checkers tried to  make sure the person standing in front of them was actually the person in the picture. And now this time, it's been just as uncomfortable. Every single checker has made a comment about the drastic change in my hair. I just smile and acknowledge their comments about how m...

Got Questions?

Image
We're headed to Texas in a couple of hours, which means the last couple of days have been a frantic mess of laundry, packing, studying, etc. I would definitely appreciate any prayers you can spare for Brian on Friday - he'll be taking two 4-hour Texas education tests that he will hopefully pass and then be licensed to teach in Texas. Obviously, a big deal. If you've got any left over, maybe you could pray for my scar tissue/abscess. It burst on Saturday and has been quite painful. I'm on antibiotics, but it doesn't seem to be healing quite as quickly as it has in the past. In the meantime, I've had several emails over the last couple of days with questions regarding photography, Texas, moving, etc. If you've got one to add, either leave it here in the comments or email it to me at camdensmommy at gmail dot com, and I'll answer them next week. And two pictures before we head out the door to the airport. Did I mention it's just the adults trav...

Tuesday's Tidbits

Not sure if it's the spring-like weather we've been having or what, but I've heard, "can we pwetty, pwetty, pwetty pwease with a cherry on top go to the salon to get pedicures?" on a daily basis for the last 2-3 weeks. Well, I'm not taking you, Rory, but I just might go myself. ;) When I asked Rory what time midnight was after she told us she was up last night at midnight, " You know, mama, when everyone else is asleep!" "How'd you sleep last night, mommy? Your hair looks like you slept really good." - Camden "I had so much fun, I didn't even notice you were gone" from Rory when I asked if she missed me at school yesterday. I exercised 7 times last week in 6 days - did the 30-Day Shred 5 of those days, and I can finally move again without pain. And, surprisingly enough, it's true that if you stick to it, the Shred gets a bit easier. Not easy, but easier than when you started. Can't say I've act...

First Day

Image
Like I mentioned last week, we finally bit the bullet and decided to shell out for preschool for the rest of the year for Rory. As you can see, she was pretty excited. In fact, I think her exact words were, "I am SO e-cited for the funnest day in my whole entire life. I'm going to have a First Day of School dance with a shimmy in there." She has been bored to tears with my company for the last several months, and you know I love this girl to pieces, but I have been bored to tears trying to keep her entertained day in and day out for the last couple of months so I think this is the perfect time. Oh, she also wanted to know what she was going to learn on her first day of kindergarten (ummmm, it's just preschool) and if she was going to be able to pull tallies (that would be what happens when you misbehave). Oh, dear!

Coffee on a Sunday afternoon. In my favorite Anthropologie mug. And a quick, easy read.
