My trip to the warehouse sale was fun, although I only came home with a jacket, shorts, and shirt. Most of the sale was from past spring/summer lines, and I wasn't in the mood to buy for next year. It was still fun and worth the trip. Daylight Saving is really messing my kids up - they've gotten up earlier and earlier every day this week. I think today might be the day we fix the trend, though. It's almost 7:00 and they're still in bed! It's chilly and rainy out today and Brian has to work late so it might be a long day at home with the kiddos. I think I'm kind of ready for a quiet day - this is the first day this week we've spent at home. I desperately need to get laundry folded and put away. Here is a very typical boy conversation I had with Camden yesterday. "Mommy, do you see the airplane smoke? It's army fighter jets flying around the whole world to keep us safe and defeat the enemy. I'm saying defeat and not kill. I only use kill if it...

I spent about 5 hours driving to two different doctor's, waiting for appointments and prescriptions on Tuesday - not too much fun! Rory did pretty well at her appointment until the nurse snapped on the latex gloves and then it was all downhill from there. She was so funny because she whined and told me all about for a very long time after! We spent election night at Brian's parents, and then came home, put the kids in bed, and then stayed up much too late watching the election coverage. Although, I'm less than thrilled with the results, the big impression that I have from the night is seeing an elderly black gentleman in Chicago surrounded by a sea of cheering Obama supporters as they announced him the winner. The man just stood there with tears rolling down his cheeks, and I know that he was remembering the days that he wasn't allowed to ride the same bus or eat in the same restaurants simply because of the color of his skin. Mayme and I are going shopping at a boutiq...

Election Day

Image
I am so happy that today is election day and this whole thing will be over! I completely enjoyed the debating and all that comes with a presidential election for several months, but now I'm tired of it! Brian and I both voted a couple of weeks ago, so we have a free day. They close the schools in Tennessee for election day so Brian is off today. Brian is going to take Camden out for breakfast and then fishing. I'm taking Rory to the doctor for an immunization she missed at her 2 year appointment. Clearly I'm an idiot because I made it for first thing this morning so I didn't get to sleep in while Brian is home! Camden, Rory, and I grocery shopped yesterday, and then Camden played outside for several hours. We've had beautiful (warm) weather this last several days. He also had a major attitude adjustment last night (as in we adjusted it for him, and his throat is sore and he's hoarse from all the screaming). He sure knows how to throw a fit. Wonder when he'll...

Camden LOVED Halloween! We went to a friend's church for their fall festival, and he played games, got lots of candy, ate lots of candy, etc. All the typical Halloween things. Rory had a good time too. I thought she might be scared considering she is scared of her shadow these days, but she wandered around checking everything out and even played a few games. Saturday was fabulous! I slept until almost 9:00 (I've been up until almost 2:00 just about every night this week) and Brian made breakfast and took care of Camden and Rory. Then he took them to run errands so I had several hours alone. It was National Digiscrapping day so I shopped, scrapped, and shopped some more. It was wonderful! (Sorry Amanda and Becky - I know you wanted to be doing the same!) Brian is tired of my reading over his shoulder on Facebook and insisted I get my own user name. :) So if you're on, request me as a friend so I'm not lonely. Anyone else hate Daylight Saving Time? It's light out befo...

Happy Halloween

We're taking the kids trick-or-treating for the first time ever tonight. We've always had fall festivals to attend, but our church isn't having one this year so we're going to take Rory and Camden around to a few of our friends. I haven't talked about it very much because I didn't want Camden to ask me 100 times a day, but the word is apparently out since he prays every meal and night "to really enjoy trick-or-treating." I think we're going to make Halloween cupcakes together today. Baking (anything in the kitchen really) isn't my kind of fun and doing it with two kids is even less fun, but I know they'll have a good time with all the sprinkles and icing so we're going to give it a try. Our weekend is downright boring compared to last weekend, but that's all right. I'm pretty sure Brian is ready for the break. He is helping out with a benefit for Christian Saturday night and will need to do some preparation for that, but hopeful...

Domestic life has been difficult around here this week. The kiddos have been challenging, to say the least. I am hoping for a much better day today (and have my fingers crossed!). I have all kinds of bribes (I'll admit to it) lined up as well as plans to get out of the house and hopefully that will help. We're making a trip to Nashville since I'm in desperate need of a library and Target run. A local photographer is doing quick Halloween pictures and I think I might take Rory up for pictures. They're cheap (I think they're assuming you won't just buy the cheap package), and she looks adorable in her costume and I could send pictures to grandparents (which I haven't done in a while). We'll see how our time goes. And speaking of photographs, we ordered our Angela Crutcher prints on Monday evening, and I am so excited. I think we won't receive them for another 2-3 weeks. Our gallery was only up for 3 days so if you emailed me asking for the link and the...
