Life as a Lewis

Here's the difference between boys and girls. You hand them each a flower, and this is what they do with it. So yesterday was the first real day of our summer. It's the first full week we're all home, and the excitement is palpable, let me tell you. We had loads of fun hanging out laundry together, cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming (twice), taking a walk in the sweltering heat, and eating popsicles out on the swing (pictures from that later). I think Rory and Camden are bored already. Can't say I blame them - I'm bored already! I've got to come up with something fun to do to fill our days. Camden is going to play soccer starting in August as well as going to Mother's Day Out 2 days a week so that will help. We're also checking out the library reading and crafts day tomorrow. I got up and walked for 30 minutes on my own this morning. Exercise is pretty low on my list of least favorite things to do, and exercising alone falls ...

Rory hit a new milestone yesterday. She pointed to the kitchen and said, "nak!" (a.k.a. Snack). It's the first time she's asked for a snack using words. Oh, and she can now say the name of a very important body part: elbow. Not nose or mouth or belly, but elbow. I hesitate to show you how many pages I scrapped on Saturday in case you think that I'm a horrible mom and wife, but I promise the kids were fed, all diapers changed, multiple books read aloud to them, and several pages colored. I just happened to be in a scrapping mood, and Brian was home, which is always helpful when it comes to entertaining Rory and Camden. There's not much going on today beyond normal domestic bliss. Maybe something more exciting will happen tomorrow!

Saturday was our 11th wedding anniversary. I'd say that it's hard to imagine it's really been that long, but we watched our wedding video last night (for the first time ever), and based on how different everyone looked, it really has been 11 years! We left Camden and Rory at Brian's parents house while we went to Nashville to eat an early dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and went to see Prince Caspian (which was excellent, by the way). It was so nice to get out of the house without the kiddos. It's amazing how much easier it is to get in and out of your vehicle when you don't have two kids in car seats. The food was really good. We split the avocado egg roll appetizer and also split chicken piccata. We did not split the cheesecake, however! I brought mine home to eat. I had Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough with walnuts and Brian had a pecan caramel turtle cheesecake. They were both delicious! I actually have half of mine left to enjoy tonight. Here are a few pictures of the clothes I bought at the warehouse sale this morning. Things were so cheap! I paid $5 for shirts and skirts, and $7 for dresses, and $10 for the coat.

God must have known I’d rant and rave for days after experiencing life in the Lewis household yesterday if I hadn’t already said in the blog I wouldn’t, so in keeping with my new no complaining rule, I won’t. But, let me just scream say OH. MY. STARS. As I think about what my next paragraph should be, everything I can think of is complaining about yesterday. Oh, boy. Okay, here’s this. Last night at bedtime, we’re all (well, minus Brian) on Camden’s bed doing our regular routine, and I prayed that I would be more patient, not lose my temper so easily, that Camden would speak kind words, etc. When Camden prayed, this is what he said: “Lord, please help mommy to lose her yelling temperatures.” I think the consensus is that the picture of Rory is from her 100 day celebration in Korea , so she is approximately 3.5 months old.
