Wordless Wednesday in Black and White

Image
I met up with a friend for pictures of Miss A on Friday afternoon for my second session with their family, and I just can't believe how quickly babies grow! And while I took lots of pretty color pictures, I kind of fell in love with these in black and white.

Date Night

Image
Friday night Brian and I dropped the kiddos off at Uncle Michael and Aunt Liz's house and headed to Nashville. All alone. :) We had a great restaurant recommendation from a friend, but ultimately decided we weren't cool enough to go in the door. I had also looked up a Thai restaurant that had great reviews from Urban Spoon, but when we got there it was a complete hole in the wall, and we completely chickened out. We ended up at our newest favorite haunt, P.F. Changs and had a wonderful dinner. Next up was a walk in Centennial Park. The weather was just amazing, and it was a great evening for a walk. After getting stuck in Friday night downtown traffic, we parked a gazillion blocks away from the concert, and made it to our seats with about 1 minute to spare. It was such a fun concert: Lindsey McCall, The Afters, Sanctus Real, and Casting Crowns. I have lots of thoughts about the concert that maybe I'll share at a later date. The lyrics from Casting Crown songs have alwa...

Friday Photo Dump

Image
I didn't end up with quite as many photos as I thought to "dump" here, but that's only because I decided one set needed an entire blog post of their own. :) First up, the kids talking to Grandpa on his birthday and singing happy birthday to him over the phone. I was glad my camera was close by because they were too cute. Next is Rory playing dress up. (Becky, these are the pics I took while we were on the phone yesterday.) In the first picture, she's trying not to smile. The second one she's out of focus, but she's showing me her baby's hair accessories. The third one she's just kind of done. Earlier this week I asked Rory to go get dressed, and this is what she came out in: knee socks, pink pajama top and a pair of bloomers that go with a dress. And while I didn't ask her to pose (at this point in the day anyway), I did pull out the camera when I came into the room and found her "reading" Tangled. If you p...

Fields of Faith

Image
I am starting to feel the effects of a very full week and 3 nights in a row of very little sleep. We have had a great week, very busy, and the weekend is looking full as well with two photo shoots, date night with Brian, Rory's soccer game, fall festival at Camden's school, a circus (actually going to one, not describing our life), church, and my mom coming into town. I am feeling slightly exhausted just thinking about it, but am also looking forward to all the events. Rory and I were supposed to meet up with a fellow adoptive family at a local pumpkin patch (think of all the photo ops!), but woke up today to a very dreary, cold, and rainy morning. The rain is probably a blessing in disguise since it allows me a quiet morning. Last night Brian and I took the kids as well as some church kids to a Fields of Faith event sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Rory thoroughly enjoyed the music (and Brian and thoroughly enjoyed watching her), but Camden was most impr...

Reeeeaaaaach!

I realize these pictures might seem boring to the average viewer, but I live these pictures nearly every single day. We walk to the mailbox. She begs to be the one to check for mail. She can't get it open. The end.

Tuesday's Tidbits

Image
Rory at supper one night last week (with one finger held up in the air): "I have a hypofesis! When we go camping, Jesus and God can take care of mommy." Apparently, they say "hypothesis" on Dinosaur Train. Who knew. Brian commented that a third of the prayer requests for Clearview Church involved cancer, and Camden piped up and said, "Yeah, the cancer sure has hit hard this year." My heart broke one night last week as I laid in bed with Rory while she prayed, "Help me not to be so scared of my mama's cancer." How do I tell her not to be scared when I'm scared myself? I have literally been waiting all summer long to make these oreo-stuffed brownies . There is nothing I like better than oreos. In fact, toss a little coffee ice cream in with oreos, and I am in heaven. Anyway, been waiting all summer for an event to make the brownies to coincide with my feeling good. Made them for the cookout Saturday at Liz's house, and the...

Thousand Gifts 601-648

So Brian was a brave, brave man and took kids camping yesterday. He has always taken Camden camping for his birthday; it was kind of their little thing and they both looked forward to it all year long. Rory was ECSTATIC to discover that she was going to get her own trip this year. Well, our summer plans ended up revolving around chemo schedules, hospital visits, etc. and the trips just didn't happen. When we finally did get one trip on the schedule, we decided that it would be best to combine the two birthdays, and Camden and Rory both seemed happy with that. Rory vacillated between being wildly excited about being included on Brian and Camden's trip and upset that she had to leave me. Here's a quick picture before they took off yesterday. After 2 hours worth of packing while the kids fought, argued, jumped up and down with joy and basically annoyed the heck out of him, I think he might have been second guessing the trip. I talked to all 3 of them last night, though, a...
