Today is an exciting day! We get to greet Emma at the airport tonight. I'm so excited that the McGowans will finally be home. Mayme asked me to be the photographer at the airport, and I'm thrilled about that as well. Camden is so funny - he thought we were actually going to China to meet them tonight. Not sure if he thought they had moved there permanently or what. The kids have absolutely destroyed the house in the last two days. It's partially my fault because I let them, but they have played so well together that I didn't want to interrupt or to hamper it my making them pick up over and over. Now that I'm dealing with the aftermath, I think I'm ready to make them pick up regularly again! I have several errands to run as well today, but the majority of the day is devoted to getting the house in shape. Camden has soccer pictures tomorrow morning, followed by two soccer games so we're in for a long morning. Of course, it must fall on the weekend that Brian ...

I think we had a breakthrough yesterday with Camden and Rory. They played together just so well. They built a little puppet stage and took turns (although I turned around and saw Rory standing on top of the puppet stage, which was kinda scary). They had "adventures" in the dark laundry room with the flash light. Camden had a big time, and Rory just followed right along. Remember those questions I said Camden asks? Yesterday at lunch he asked me if rabbits have brains and how do you make Cheezits - all in one breath. I'm grocery shopping with both kids this morning. Hopefully, I'll escape with my sanity. One of the hazards of living in a small town is that your bank lobby doesn't open until 8:00 and then closes at 3:30. How ridiculous is that! I'm not sure how they expect anyone who works a job to be able to get business completed. We received our finalization paperwork from the lawyer last night and need to have several pieces notarized and also get copies fr...

Well, I managed to get a full 8 hours of sleep last night, which is pretty rare, and I'm paying for it now. It's 11:35 p.m. and I'm wide awake. So I'm killing time with this . Brian's pictures are really making me laugh! 1994 1982 1970 1994 1982 1960

The Camden list might be shorter than Rory's - mostly because 5 year olds aren't developing and changing quite as much as a 23 month old! There's very little baby left in him, which is good since he's 5 I guess although he stills calls a bathing suit a "babin' suit" and I can't bear to correct him. The look of pure joy on his face when someone on his team makes a goal in soccer practice or in a game is just priceless. The child can throw a serious temper tantrum. Seriously. We're talking screaming, kicking, rolling around on the floor in his room for an hour on a bad day. Thank goodness those days don't come often. He can sit for hours at the kitchen table with a package of play dough, or one of our games that he is playing with and making into his own game. This is pretty new; he's never been much for independent play. He wants breakfast the moment he wakes up. When he's being sweet to Rory, his voice goes up 3 octaves and he speaks to...

I've had several people email me this morning and ask if Rory is really as sweet as I say. Well, yes and no. She is very sweet, but she does have some "other" qualities. Things like: Seriously stubborn! As in, she does not give in easily and wins pretty much every fight with Camden. She's pretty good at stare-downs with daddy. Once she gets upset about something and starts crying, there's no quieting her down. You've just got to wait it out. She's quite a screamer, and not in a crying kind of way, but in a horrendous, shrieking kind of way if Camden reaches a toy before she does or just has something she might want. She totally disregards the words no, don't touch, stop, quit, etc. Well, disregards them unless she wants to use them, which is quite often. The computer and the toilet are her new playthings. And I can't seem to get her to stop. Despite the escalating discipline. :) She is a hitter and a pincher. Nothing seems to be helping with that e...
