Words on Wednesday

The longest fall ball season ever finally ended Monday night with a pizza party and trophies. It was also one of the coldest nights we've had and the game was the longest - 90 minutes. Which is a long time to watch a group of little kiddos chase a ball around the field. ;) Her smile when she received her trophy made it all worthwhile.

I've decided that I do not want to be a grown-up anymore. Maybe I could go back to being a 7 year old where receiving a trophy makes my world A-okay.

Because having a broken computer wasn't frustrating enough, my phone had some crazy mess-up while it was installing the newest IOS update last night and had to be completely restored . . which means I lost all my photos, videos, apps, etc. Most of those are backed up . . . on the broken computer. The positive side of this is that I now have 12g of free space on my phone.

Does this all sound depressing? Here's something good: I had lunch with Tina and Kathy yesterday, which means 2 hours of girl talk and comparing parenting war stories.

Rory informed us earlier this week that P.E. stands for Physical Education for Humans. I think we can thank Aunt Liz for that definition.

More good news: my knee is getting better. I'm assuming that knees don't miraculous heal themselves overnight, but I am definitely seeing slow progress so I'll take it.

The kids both have haircuts scheduled for this afternoon, and you know I am ridiculously OCD about hair. I decided last week that maybe it was time for Rory to give bangs a try, and I spent several days thinking about it day and night. And now I've spent several days (and nights) rethinking that decision.

I had an appointment at Vanderbilt's cancer clinic yesterday to get my port flush. And despite the fact that it took a solid 2 hours of waiting, all I could think of was how grateful I was to only be there for a flush.

When my mom was here last fall, we (a.k.a. she) made homemade laundry detergent. I was a little skeptical, but it has gotten my clothes clean and I am just now on the last bottle. So for about $15 we made enough detergent for an entire year. That's a win! I do add Downy crystals to most loads simply because I like the smell. If I cut out the Downy, the savings would have been greater.

I've been holding tightly to this little verse lately: "As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good." (2 Thess 3:13) in hopes of seeing this verse come to fruition: "I have no greater joy than seeing my children walk in truth." (3 John 1:4). Parenting is hard.

ETA: SOLD - thank you! I have two Matilda Jane dresses, size 6, in perfect condition to sell if anyone is interested. You can email me at camdensmommy@gmail.com for more pictures and more info.

I am so loving the bangs! Are you wishing you hadn't done it? Is she? She just has a face that can pull off all of those things and just be so darn cute! Hope the knee continues to be well and that all you ever have to go in for are port flushes :)
Love that your knee is getting better!! And I find great relief knowing I am not alone agonizing over my child's haircut…
