Tuesday's Tidbits

Rory had a cold last week (okay 2-3 weeks ago now since I started this forever ago) and her ears were bothering her just a tad so she announced she needed ear buds like Emma (who has hearing aids).

I've discovered that when you don't have eyelashes, your tears fall much more quickly because there's nothing to slow them down. And that wasn't meant to be some kind of sad comment, just an observation. I promise!

And let's lighten the mood with another fun discovery. When you don't have any nose hairs (yes, they fall out there too), there's nothing to stop the snot and your nose kinda drips constantly. Betcha didn't know that!

"So you know how I told you I liked school? Not so much anymore." And this would be from Camden to Becky. Pretty sure this has something to do with the fact that 2nd grade is requiring alot more independent work and Camden would most definitely be against independent work. :)

And speaking of Camden, Mr. Chatty himself got moved THREE times in one day the first week of school trying to find a spot where he won't talk all day.

According to Rory the way you tell the difference between boys and girls is that girls have beautiful earrings and necklaces and boys "don't have beautiful stuff."

While in Chick-fil-A with Rory on a "date" I heard an exasperated mother say to her toddler, "Just stop asking questions! I said be patient!" Kinda made me feel better about a certain moment between Rory and I a little earlier this week. Come on, you know you've been there.

And in that same trip, we sat next to a 1 year old who screamed through the entire meal. Made me very glad to be past that stage.

And overheard from Rory while talking on her phone, "Hey, man. What's kickin'? You still in preschool?" I am so not kidding.

I made these chocolate chip cookies Sunday. Actually, I mixed them up (and it's a huge batch). The recipe calls for letting the dough "rest" in the fridge for 2-3 days. I'm having a hard time letting them rest. Cookie dough is my favorite, very-bad-for-you snack; not to mention chocolate chip cookies are my favorite cookie. I'll give you the verdict tomorrow after I bake them.

I changed the blog settings to make it more iPod, iTouch, iPad friendly. Anyone notice a difference on their mobile devices?

And a couple of pics from last week. Look who dived into the lipgloss again. Okay, she asked and I said yes. One of these days I'm going to just hand her all my make-up and let her go wild.

And for my photography friends, these were taken with my 35mm lens, settings are f2.5, 1/80 SS (which is very slow for children) and ISO 640. I used a Florabella photo action called Milk, turned the opacity way down, then did a slight hue/saturation adjustment because she had crazy pink color casts on her face from the reflection of her shirt.

Comments

Rory's comments always crack me up and I kind of love that Camden has already gotten moved 3 times. I can kinda see that in our future.
Now that you mention it, I would think that tears DO fall a lot more easily without eyelashes, which would be embarrassing for me....I "mist up" a lot on commercials and even sitcoms!!

Very cute pictures! Love the lip gloss!

Interesting about the eyelashes and nose hair. Wouldn't have thought of that! Of course, nose hair is one of Ellis' favorite phrases right now so I don't know why I don't think about it a lot. LOL!

Too funny about Camden being moved in class. The kids haven't seen each other all summer - they have catching up to do! : )

Oh, and I wondered what happened to your blog on my phone!

Well, what do you know, I didn't even notice you sitting beside us at Chick-fil-a the other day! :) My mouth is watering over those cookies. Can't wait to hear the verdict!

I'm glad somebody else has a chatty child too! I'm afraid Julia's going to be moved around like that when she starts Kindergarten next week! Oh well. I'm pretty sure I was the same way.
I've been meaning to tell you over and over again how much I love your blog! And I would so love to meet Rory. She is such a character!

I think parts of this post should be called "Kids say the darndest things!"
Very interesting about the tears and the nose... I still want to give you a hug.
There's so much I could comment on... but I have to say that I practically died laughing when I read the part about Rory on her cell phone... would that classify as a "walking, talking Melissa" ism!? ;-)

And, yet again, I feel like Camden and Spencer are meant to be buds. The very first day of preschool and Spencer comes home telling me that "you can't just talk... you have to listen too... how's that for crazy!?"
PS - I love the Florabella actions every time you use them... I need to see if there are any "samples" to try first... since I can't justify that expense on top of a class!

The lip glass photos are a HOOT. She is such a deliciously girlie girl :)
I SO feel ya on the glad-to-not-be-at-that-stage on the 1-y-o kid. Ugh... I'm SO not a baby person.
I saw that you got a replacement kitty. So excited by that!!!
