The weekend

Where to start? Seems like it's been a long time since I posted, but it's just like every other weekend!

Camden's soccer game was fine Saturday morning. We scored no goals and lost, but Camden did a great job playing goalie. After the game, I immediately left for a run to Nashville to pick up some tights and a plain white shirt for Rory for our pictures. Can I just say that Rory wore 3 different outfits - none of them were what I had planned, but she looked really cute! The session with Angela Crutcher went well. I cannot wait to see our pictures. Rory was very lively and charming and I think Angela was able to capture alot of personality and smiles. Camden was a typical 5-year old and VERY stiff! Hopefully, she got some good ones of him too. He has such a great smile, but doesn't quite know how to turn it off and on yet!

Rory said her first 2-word phrase yesterday. "Camden, quit." Let me just say, it doesn't surprise me.

Brian spent lots of hours working on a church project this weekend and didn't get much school work done, so he was up at 3:00 a.m. grading papers. He also has an observation/evaluation by his principal today, but he wasn't too concerned about it (although he did do some reworking of his lesson once he realized that it was the plant reproduction lesson). :)

Rory's 2-year check-up with the pediatrician was today, and it was absolutely horrific. She's always tended to be terrified of the nurses and examination room (probably because of all the testing she had done earlier in her life as well as the many appointments we've had since she's been home with her leg), but this was at a whole new level. I've never experienced such a panicked child in my life. The two nurses were having to physically pull her off me so they could weigh and measure her. She was so panicked, and it was very hard for this mama. She spent the entire hour we were there either screaming or collapsed on my lap with her head buried in my neck. This is very uncharacteristic of her! She is 32.5 inches tall (17 percentile), 22.4 lbs (3rd percentile) and is 4th percentile for her head circumference. The doctor wants me to contact Early Intervention about her speech, and I plan to do it, but I think that she's fine. Because she's adopted, doctors are more cautious with potential delays than they are for biological children, and honestly she's not behind many of the other 2-year olds I know. But we'll definitely check into it and see what they say. Thank goodness Camden stayed at Gram and Gramps house this morning. She was all I could handle!

Nothing else on the agenda for today except the usual domestic bliss, so I better get to it!

Sounds like she is progressing normally speech-wise...first phrase being one to correct her older sibling!!!

Oh, poor Rory. I'm so sorry that she had a rough time at her check up.

I cannot wait to see the pictures that you had taken over the weekend. :)

Just popping in to say hi, Melissa. Haven't been keeping up regularly with ANYTHING since my daughter got married this summer and threw any semblance of routine I had out the window. Glad to see you are all doing well, despite Rory's upset at the dr. Take care :o)
