Camden stories

We enjoyed our shopping trip yesterday. You should have seen Camden, Rory, and Emma all lined up in their carseats in the backseat. Emma just giggled and giggled at Camden who was next to her. Camden was so good. He was helpful and sweet to Emma, and honestly just did so well. I was not expecting things to go that smoothly to be honest. Shopping is not high on his list of fun things to do, and we were out and about for 4 hours. I'm sure the fact that I bribed him with the last piece of birthday cake and some Wii time didn't hurt. When we got home, Mayme gave Camden a dollar for being such a good helper. As we were walking up the deck stairs, Camden said, "I'm gonna put this dollar in my wallet. Now I've got almost as much as daddy said I needed to get a new baby brother." Apparently, he's still taking this seriously!

Here's another conversation that happened this week.

Camden:
Mommy, my jack-0-lantern is perishing.

Me
:
(trying not to laugh)

Camden
:
What does perish mean?

Me
:
Well, it means that something is dying.

Camden
:
So what does "not perish" mean?

Me:

That something is not dying.

Camden:

So we're not going to die? Cause the verse from my June video says we will
"not perish" (think John 3:16)

Me:

Well, everybody has to die sometime, but because we've asked
Jesus in our hearts, we'll go to heaven.

Camden:

So you and daddy will be in heaven,
but not Rory because she hasn't asked Jesus in her heart.

Me:

(oh, boy!)
Rory hasn't asked Jesus in her heart yet because she's still a baby
and doesn't understand how, but she would go to heaven.
Jesus understands that she can't ask him yet.

Camden
:
Can we pray right now?

And then he prayed that Rory would understand "right now."

He really has had some sweet moments over the last couple of days. He's also just full of questions. They're a bit harder to answer now that he's five. He wanted to know about Christian's cancer and if his hair would fall out like Aunt Becky's. Then he wanted to know why medicine would do that to you. I made the mistake of mentioning that the chemo medicine is like poison, which created a few more questions. He also asked me last week if my name had always been Melissa. I finally figured out that he was asking because he and Rory had Korean names first. We also went through the whole thing again about his being born in another lady's belly and she took care of him while he was growing into a baby, then that Mrs. Lee took care of him while he was in Korea until we could come get him. He said, "So really I have 3 mommies?" That's the first time he's made the connection between "mommies" and his birthmother.

Today is grocery day. Hopefully, Camden and Rory won't rebel against shopping two days in a row! Camden has a soccer game at 9:00 tomorrow morning, then our Celebrating Adoption photoshoot with Angela Crutcher is at 5:00. I cannot even tell you how excited I am! I'm still obsessing over what they should wear, of course.

Here are the baptism and dedication pictures. They're pretty self-explanatory! Just a side note: my dad baptized me when I was 5, and it's one of the few childhood memories I can remember (I have my mother's trait of not remembering our childhood), and my dad also dedicated Camden when he was a baby.

How sweet! And isn't it interesting how we "grow" as we learn from our kiddos. Deep thinking on Camden's part, right!
Love, Grandma E.
