Happy Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween! I know all of you out there will think we're horrible parents, but Camden has no costume this year. He just doesn't care about it, and I decided not to wrestle him into something. So we'll just be handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters tonight. Brian is actually going to be home, and we're all happy about that! Was planning to go to Curves at lunch today (I've really been neglecting that!) but stopped in at Target to pick up a new prescription. I just finished an antibiotic yesterday, but my sinus infection isn't totally gone and now I've got a sore throat so the doctor called in something new for me. Hopefully this will finally take care of it. I think I can spill the beans now about my scrapping news from a couple of weeks ago. Dani Mogstad asked me to her new November Guest CT member. You can read about it on Dani's Girl Talk blog . I love her designs so I'm very excited. Here are a few layouts from the last several days. Tri

Celebrity Sighting

I saw Faith Hill in Target this morning. She had her hair pulled back in a bun with no make-up, but she is quite beautiful! And easily recognizable even in her "natural" state. Our weekend was pretty good. I was off Friday and hoping to stay home and get quite a bit done around the house (dirty laundry had pretty much taken over and I hadn’t grocery shopped in 2 weeks!), but ended up going shopping with Brian’s mom, grandma, and aunt. Camden came with us as well, because as we all know family only visits to see him! Friday night was our fall festival at church, and everyone had a blast (adults included). Camden was so caught up in the games that he didn’t care about the candy at all. I’m so irritated because I got horrible pictures. The gym has really weird lighting and I’m sure I could have adjusted things on my camera, but I seriously know nothing about it! Maybe this will convince me to pull out the user guide. It’s a Nikon D50 so I know it should be able to handle strange

Almost Friday!

Work was so busy today I hardly had time to think! But tonight was great. It's Thursday night, which means I have the next 3 days off. Also, Brian didn't have class tonight for the first time since August so he was at home, which was really nice! It felt like a party. The weekend should be pretty good. Camden is going to his Gram and Gramps house tomorrow. I'll be home cleaning, doing laundry, running errands. Tomorrow night we've got our big Halloween event at church. Saturday we're having pictures taken by a friend who has her own photography business. Not sure I'll have digital access so I don't know if I'll be sharing here or not, but I'm very excited about it. Of course, the big decision is what we should all wear! Hoping to go to a pumpkin patch on Saturday, but not sure if we'll get to or not. This is our last chance! Everything is reruns tonight so I've been burning pics, layouts, and kits to CD. Feels good to get some space cleared o

Chilly!

Image
It was 34 degrees when I left home this morning - quite chilly for us! Traffic was crazy and it took me over an hour to arrive, but it actually kinda helped me wake up before work this morning. I was sooooooo sound asleep this morning! I don't sleep like that often, so it felt really good. Funny story about Camden. Last night Brian was headed out to teach his college class. Camden asked where he was going and Brian told him to teach. Camden burst into laughter and just giggled uncontrollably. He said, "you're not a teacher!" Brian asked him why not, and Camden (laughing all the while) said, "you're a boy, not a girl." So apparently we need to have a talk and let him know boys can do anything girls can do! LOL I've got a doctor's appointment this evening. I'm pretty sure I've got a sinus infection so hopefully she'll give me medication to take care of it, and I can feel better. I've had this thing for weeks now! One layout to share

Back

We're back from our trip to St. Louis, and it was so much fun! Very cold, but fun! Camden had a blast with his grandma and grandpa. We arrived Thursday afternoon and went to Grant's Farm . Let me just say that 45 degrees and very windy and overcast is COLD! I don't think any of us were prepared for such a cold day, and I know that we weren't dressed warmly enough, but it was still fun. Camden had a great time riding the tram, feeding the goats, and seeing the Clydesdale horses. We had quite a few laughs at our driver, who I'm sure was drunk! We went to the Arch next, which was also fun. The museum inside had these mechanical historical figures that told a story, and Camden kept wanting to go back to see "the boys." We had planned to ride to the top, but there was a long wait and we didn't want to get stuck in rush hour so we skipped it. I think we've all been anyway. Friday we spent several hours at the zoo. Camden was mostly interested in riding t

Take 2

So this is my second post today, but I have a layout to share and a funny Camden story. So I got a really great email today (digi-scrap related--more on that at a later date) and Brian was being silly and said, "Camden, your mommy's hit the big time." To which Camden replied, "But Jesus made my bottom." What???? I love this picture. It's when my dad met his twin grandsons for the first time, and this is in those very first moments. I also have a picture of my sister meeting them for the first time that I can't wait to scrap. Credits here .

Wednesday

What a great morning! I'm off work for the rest of the week so I'm enjoying a quiet day at home. Camden is at school; Brian is at work; and I'm still in my p.j.s! I've done a little scrapping, lots of laundry, talked to a friend on the phone for over an hour (!) and relaxed. I've also been packing for our little trip. Is it crazy that I can't decide what Camden should wear because I'm trying to coordinate the pictures I know I'm going to take? Can't help it - I want them to be great. We should have lots of good opportunities for pictures in St. Louis. Camden went back to the doctor yesterday to have his lungs checked, and he's all clear. Our doctor made sure to tell us that this is not an indication of a bad winter or anything (Apparently, he's been listening in to my conversations). Here's a layout from this morning. I tried the acid wash Photoblast action on the photos and kinda like it! So Heavy - credits here

Hyperactive

Image
Yes, my child is hyperactive! I cannot wait for him to get off this medication because he is so crazy these days! Sometimes in a funny way, more often than not just in a hyper, crazy, moody way. Thank goodness he took his last dose of the steroid yesterday and goes back to the doctor today. I really think he is doing much better, and I doubt they'll put him on anything else. Just a few examples of how crazy he's been. (1) He threw a fit Saturday that included kicking Brian. The fit lasted OVER an hour! (2) He hugged everyone in sight at church last night. Not just hugged, but exuberantly hugged (we usually have to force him to say hello, much less hug anyone) (3) Here's a conversation from dinner last night: "hey,somebodyputbuggersinmynose.I'mbeinggoodtoday. Ican'tbelieveit'srainingoutside.She'sugly.My'pasghetti'isgood." This is all said with no breath in between and yelled at the top of his lungs, and did you notice the "she's ugl

Friday

We woke up last night at 11:30 to the smoke alarm going off! Got up and the house definitely smelled like something burning, but we couldn't find anything. Finally figured out that maybe it was the furnace - we had just turned it on for the first time. So we turned it off until morning and then Brian rechecked it. I think it was just because it was the first time we used it, but kinda crazy that the smoke alarm went off! Called the doctor this morning because Camden still has that crazy crackling in his chest and any activity at all makes him cough and breathless so the doctor called in a prescription for a steroid he's taken before. Unfortunately, this turns him into a monster child! It's not his fault, but he is so up and down emotionally and anything that happens is just a huge deal. Not that much fun! So here's a funny story to remember when I blog tomorrow about what a rough day it's been! He wanted to play with Gram and Gramp's chickens, but they wouldn

Sad

It's not a very good day. When I got in to work this morning, a good friend called to tell me that her brother was killed in a car accident last night. I feel just heartbroken for them. He was only 22. Camden seems to be doing some better, but still lots of coughing and crackling in his lungs. He's with his Gram today. I'm off work tomorrow so I'll be able to stay with him. I had a layout loaded, but it disappeared and I can't seem to get it back so you'll have to tune in tomorrow.

Happy Birthday

Pneumonia

Image
Yes, my boy has pneumonia! We took him 2 weeks ago yesterday to the doctor, and everything was clear. But his cough never cleared up and has gotten alot worse over the last couple of days, and I could hear that horrible whistling in his chest so we took him back in last night, and he has a bad case of pneumonia! The doctor put him on strong antibiotic and said to keep a close eye on him so we're home today! He's coughing up junk and just generally miserable! Brian is gone for the day and has class tonight so it might be a LONG day! I'm promising him popcorn and Dancing With the Stars tonight if we can have a relatively good day! Last night when we got home, I had given him two doses of the antibiotic (the doctor said to!) and it was making his stomach cramp. Well, he's never really had that particular kind of pain before so he's sitting on the potty, I'm on the floor in front of him, and he's hanging onto my head for dear life. It wasn't funny, but I was

Monday

Brian had a great camping trip this weekend with 9 teenage boys. He didn't get much sleep, but a good time was had by all. I took Camden to the park and library on Friday, but he was pretty subdued. He only went down the slide once! Not sure if he was missing his daddy or if he was just not feeling well. The three of us went to see Open Season Saturday night, but left early since Camden and Brian both were falling asleep! I guess I'll never know if Boog makes it back home. I started my little scrapping business this weekend and have already completed my first order. I'm hoping to have lots more to follow! You can see the blog here . I'm hoping this can be an extra source of fundraising for our adoption. We're hoping to start the process this spring/summer. Brian is at home with Camden today. Poor thing still has that nasty cough and a horrible little crackling/whistling sound coming from his lungs when he breathes. We're headed to the doctor late this afternoon.

My sweet nephews

Image
I had a crazy day at work so I'm pretty tired tonight, but no work tomorrow so that feels good! We don't have many plans for the weekend. Brian is going to be on a camping trip with the youth group boys so Camden and I are on our own. Here's a quick layout I did last night using pictures of my cute twin nephews.

Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream

Image
This is a pretty boring week! Only news I can think of is that Camden is coming down with another cold. We had two cough-less nights, but it started up again last night. I have a feeling this is going to be a long fall/winter season. My new favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Cheesecake. I'm a big ice cream lover, but it usually involves lots of chocolate (because I would never waste dessert calories on something with fruit in it!). I bought this for Brian over the weekend and ended up eating it myself. While I'm an ice cream snob and only want the good stuff, Brian will eat anything! I'm headed to Gymboree at lunch - always a fun time! One layout from Monday night. It's one of my favorites! I used Dani Mogstad's Fall Crush kit, which is really fun! I wanted to scrap last night, but was just too tired! Tonight is church, so maybe I'll get some done Thursday.

Alotta Bigger

Image
Taking a fast break from work to quickly post a new layout and give you Camdens "phrase of the day." When you ask him to do something that he doesn't want to do, he says, "but I'm not alotta bigger yet." If he wants to do something that you're not allowing him to do, he says, "but I'm alotta bigger now." Funny kid. THE AMERICAN WAY - uses All American kit by Nancie Rowe Janitz and Michelle Coleman.
