Sleep Deprived

Image
We are all sleep deprived and cranky around here! Camden is continuing his night-time coughing spells (which is not his fault, of course), which means that we're all up and down all night long. Leads to some very cranky moments! Yesterday was pretty slow. Brian worked, I stayed home and did laundry, got some grocery shopping done. I went to Sally's Beauty Supply to buy a new flat iron. My Chi died after only 6 months, which is really annoying since I spent alot of money on it! Anyway, as we were leaving Sally's, Camden asked what store we were just in. I told him Sally's Beauty Supply. He said in a very disapproving voice, "Mommy, we don't talk about someone's booty." I tried to explain, but it didn't go over so well! He has been a bottomless pit lately. I've heard all the stories about how much boys eat, but until this week had not really experienced it, but if he keeps it up, I'll never be able to keep groceries in the house! At lunch tod

Tired

Poor Camden! He started coughing at 2:30 last night and we've all been up since! After finally throwing up, spending time in the bathroom with the hot water running, and several rounds of albuterol, he finally settled down about 4:50 a.m. I decided it wasn't worth it to go back to bed for 20 minutes, and Brian headed to the gym. This morning will definitely be a Starbucks morning!

Oh, snap

Image
Camden’s new favorite phrase is “Oh, snap.” "Chicken Little’s daddy says it" is what he told us when we asked where he heard it. He must say it 100 times every day. It’s quite funny! It’s been almost a week since I blogged and I feel too overwhelmed to recap 6 whole days. So I’ll just settle with saying we had a nice weekend, got to see my mom and a family friend. Camden had lots of fun playing with his Grandma. He was running a fever Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, but when we took him to the doctor, he said it must be viral because there was no sign of infection. He’s back at school today and happy to be out of the house. We found out Saturday night that Camden is going to have a new cousin. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law are expecting their third baby in May. They had actually started the process of domestic adoption, but God obviously had other plans. We're very excited for them! My friend Kim kindly sent me PSE4, and so I had a great time over the weekend learning

Wednesday

I'm home today because Camden has got a cold. He's really been coughing and his asthma is flaring up so I decided to keep him home today in hopes that a day away from the germy daycare will help him get over it quicker. He's had a little cold for several weeks now, but this is definitely worse than he's been. I had actually taken a half day of vacation for today anyway because my mom and a friend are passing through town. They should be here early afternoon, so that will be fun. I've got a little bit of cleaning to do (you know I have to get it right if my mom is going to see my house!) and then I'm making chicken enchiladas for supper. Poor Brian was so upset last night. When he got home last night, which was late because of class, he went in to take Camden potty before we headed to bed. He always does this and it just gives him another little chance to give him a hug and kiss. Camden usually sleeps through it. Well, last night Camden roused enough to whisper,

Psychopath

Apparently, we’re raising a psychopath. This is what Camden said to his Aunt Liz Sunday. He was hugging her goodbye and they were touching heads as they often do before he gives her a kiss. “I’m going to break your head so the blood will come out.” I didn’t hear this remark on Sunday, but I did hear it this morning when he told me the same thing as I was hugging him good bye. WHAT??? He’s smiling and very affectionate when he says it so I know he has no idea what it means. Obviously, Veggie Tales and Little Einstein’s are more violent that we thought! I have no idea where he’s heard this, but it must be one of his evil little playmates at school. LOL This is not something I would post here very often, but I think it’s important and very close to my heart because of my own son. I know a fellow adoptive family currently in the process of adopting a sweet little girl with special needs from Korea. She has been waiting for 2 years for her family. The Murschell family has three other childr

Weekend

Well, the camping trip was a success. Camden had a great time on Friday night with Brian and his Gramps. He did some fishing, washed his hands a lot (he can’t stand to be dirty), and came home WIRED on Saturday. I spent most of Saturday cleaning and getting ready for company. My sister, brother-in-law and twin nephews came in for a quick visit Saturday night and spent the night with us. I stayed up until midnight talking to my sister, which was nice. The boys are so cute! They’re 8 months old now and moving around and have their own little personalities. I just love their baby softness. They were enamored with Camden. When he would come around, they just lit up. It was so cute! I have a layout in the works, but it’s not quite ready. Stay tuned. A couple of Camden funnies. These days everything is a race and he needs to “beat” us. Friday we were getting in the car and he was helping buckle his car seat. He was so proud of himself and said, “I beat you! I beat you! I’m a failure to beat

Thursday

Today is my Friday so it’s a good day! Brian is taking Camden camping for the first time tomorrow. I hope they have a good time. I will not be joining them! While they’re out building a fire and setting up tents and fighting off bugs, I’m going to be getting my hair done and going shopping! Survivor starts tonight. I’m very curious about how they’re going to handle this season. They’ve divided the tribes into 4 ethnic groups. I’m really hoping they have not stereo-typed these groups of people. Surely not! As a mother of an Asian child, I’m a little sensitive to this because even at such a young age, we hear comments about him all the time how that he’s so smart BECAUSE he’s Asian. Even had a family member tell us that it’s “inbred” in the Asians. Well, he’s just a cute, bright boy who happens to be Asian! If you’ve ever noticed in television, Asians are MANY times portrayed as very smart, but very geeky and socially inept. Okay, so I got a little off topic here! Here are a couple more

I've been working on recipe cards for a work project (I know - isn't that great to scrap at work!) and thought I'd offer them here if anyone wants them. I'll have more next week. Neiman Marcus Spread - download here Russian Teacakes - download here

Dancing

Image
The last couple of nights at home with Camden have been so sweet. Number one, he is playing by himself sooooooo well this week. This is not typical of him. Number two, he has just been plain sweet and agreeable. He’s typically a very sweet boy anyway, but he’s also 3, and has his moments, but not the last couple of days! I let him stay up and watch some of Dancing With the Stars with me. He is too funny! He heard them say that the men would be dancing the Cha Cha Cha, and he was so excited because apparently the Wiggles talk about the Cha Cha Cha?? This led to many, many questions! I sent him to bed at 7:30 (yes, this is actually late for him) and finished up Dancing With the Stars and then watched The Contender (it was a good TV night). I still think that Brian and I are the only people watching this show, but I LOVE it! We’re down to the quarter-finals, and my two favorites had to box against each other last night. Can we say gut wrenching! My first favorite did win, but I hate watch

Dinner Conversation

Image
This is how our dinner conversation went last night. Me: Camden, what did you do at school today. Camden: Nothin' Me: Sure you did! What did you do with your friends? Camden: We saw poop. Kaden saw poop and me. We digged in the dirt for worms. And a praying mantis was praying like this (hand motions here) and almost got us. Well, I guess I asked! Brian and I had a good chuckle behind our hands! I was supposed to go to Curves at lunch today, but I'm going out for lunch with a friend instead. Sounds like a good trade to me! I've told Camden that if he's good at school today he can stay up with me to watch Dancing With the Stars. We did this last year (since Brian is gone at school), and he is so funny! He dances right along with them. The music makes him hyper! He also loves American Idol. Even when he was as little as 9 months old, when he would hear music, he would start bouncing away. Here is a layout I managed to get done last night. I used Dani Mogstad's Old Scho

Why, why, why

I know that this word is probably typical in any 3 year old's life, but it's about to drive me crazy! I have no idea how many times Camden asks this every day. Apparently, I need to on patience! We went out to lunch with Brian's parents yesterday, and Camden asks alot of questions anyway, but at lunch yesterday, he would ask a question. I would answer it. He would ask Brian the same question, then Gram, then Gramps. You get the picture! I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed by all the 9/11 coverage today. It is so sad, and I feel a little guilty that I just turned the TV/radio off when it got to be too much for me, because I know there are people who can't escape what today means because they were personally impacted. My brother is in Iraq right now because of 9/11. I do hope that all the coverage today will vividly remind people of why we are having this war. No new layouts to share, unfortunately. I had to work Friday and Saturday and had no computer time. I did ma

Temper, temper, temper

My morning started off with a bang! We woke up at 4:20 a.m. to a loud banging on our bedroom door. It was Camden wide awake and ready to get up. We put him back in bed, only to have a repeat performance at 5:30. Now this time, he actually REFUSED to get back in bed. He may throw the occasional fit, but it is a rare occurrence for him to actually tell us no and refuse something. Of course, there was no way we let him get away with that so our morning turned into a big battle between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m. He did go back to sleep briefly and got up at 6:30 and was very, very sweet. Brian is in class 3 nights a week and so on those nights, I pick up Camden, we go home and have our normal routine, but Camden doesn't see Brian on those nights. Well, he has picked up on the fact that if mommy is picking him up, it means daddy won't be around. So this morning he asked who was picking him up from school. When I said that I was, his poor little face just puckered up and he started crying. H

I've been busy getting Camden's fall/winter clothes for last year up for sale on eBay and ready for a consignment sale next week. If you're interested in Gymboree boy clothes size 18-24, check out my eBay auctions here. I can't wait to go shopping for new stuff! He's the best-dressed 3 year old you'll ever meet! I've got a busy weekend ahead. Unfortunately, it's not fun stuff! I have to work Friday and Saturday preparing for and then hosting a women's luncheon. Not my favorite part of my job! Here are a couple of layouts I managed to get done Tuesday evening.

Tuesday

Image
It's a busy Tuesday! Just taking a quick break. Camden had a good time at the picnic/cookout yesterday at Gram and Gramps although he did have a bit of trouble understanding that there were no bathrooms available! Here is a layout I did last night.

Labor Day

Image
Well, it's Labor Day, and I'm laboring away! It was a little tough to come in to work today because most people are off, but at least my drive in was good! Pretty much no traffic to contend with. The weekend was quite uneventful. Got the house cleaned and grocery shopped and that's pretty much it! We were planning to take Camden to see Barnyard at our local theater, but he threw several big fits on Friday afternoon so he lost the privilege! He was quite sweet the rest of the weekend, though. Some friends from church bought him a baseball helmet, and he either wore that thing all weekend or carried it with him. He even would hold it on the couch while he watched cartoons! Here are a couple of layouts.
